We're walking for a good cause and proud to announce our support of Oxfam Trailwalker Sydney. Trailwalker is one of the toughest team challenges in the world, with teams of four using the 100km hike completed in less than 48 hours to fundraise for Oxfam's work overcoming poverty and injustice around the world.
Because we walk for a living, we've decided the best way to help is by pulling on a pair of boots and helping others do the same.
In 2013 we're the official provider of Oxfam Trailwalker Sydney 2013 training walks as the only way to train for a hike of this magnitude is simply time on your feet and time on the track. Our guides donate their time to guide the training walks.
It's a condition of entry that each team must raise a minimum of $1000 in support of Oxfam Australia. With examples like $50 providing a Sri Lankan family a home gardening toolkit for fresh food, and $130 to help fund support for Aboriginal women in western Australia, the two teams fundraising efforts are sure to make a positive difference to many people's lives.
While completing 100km in less than 48 hours while helping to change people's lives is reward enough, teams are also in the running to be acknowledged with great rewards and prizes. This year we support the All-Rounder Award for the team that ranks highest across the combined fields of fundraising and finishing place. The top ten teams in the All-Rounder Award category will be announced at the Awards Night in October.
For every person who considers taking the challenge, for every team that trains hard for the event, and for every volunteer and support crew who lends a hand, we wish you all the best for Oxfam Trailwalker 2013. See you on the trail!
