We carefully select expedition routes for the different levels of the Duke of Ed Award Adventurous Journey to ensure they meet the Duke of Ed average hours of effort per day requirements. It’s also important they have the right level of challenge for participants and although they are mostly defined tracks, they still require some navigation skills to satisfy the Duke of Ed criteria.

You’ll find upcoming dates below for Open Hikes – where participants from any school or organisation join together – with the hiking route and itinerary. For hikes dedicated to specific school groups, we can also customise routes to meet specific participant requirements, and plan this with input from the Award Leader.
